Voting for student union elections in Rajasthan tomorrow, 7 lakh students to cast votes

Nearly 7 lakh student voters will cast their votes in 13 universities and their constituent colleges. The voting will take place from 8 am to 1 am.

Rajasthan University student union election 2018 tomorrow.

Jaipur: Voting for student union elections 2018 in Rajasthan is scheduled to take place on Friday. All the universities including Rajasthan University and their constituent colleges except JNVU where the polling will take place on 10 September will go to polls on Friday.

Nearly 7 lakh student voters will cast their votes in 13 universities and their constituent colleges. The voting will take place from 8 am to 1 am.

Ninety four polling booths have been set up at Rajasthan University. The voting will take place at 14 colleges of Rajasthan University including Maharaja, Maharani, Commerce, Poddar College of the city.

The student unions and the university administration are trying to increase the voting percentage this year. The voting percentage was about 50% last year. The maximum voting percentage was at Maharani College with the minimum at Maharaja college last year.

Heavy police force will be deployed at all the booths to ensure law and order during the voting.

The Rajasthan University administration has come up with a paperless concept in circulating the orders related to the election among the officials. The proctor board is circulating instruction and orders through WhatsApp.

The university administration has also uploaded a presentation on the university website providing guidelines for casting the vote.

Despite the heavy security on the campus, NSUI Candidate for the president post Ranveer Singh Singhania and state NSUI president Abhimanyu Poonia were admitted to ICU of SMS Hospital after they were injured in an attack by unknown assailants at 12:30 am on Thursday. Ranveer Singh sustained serious head injuries.

A RU student said, “It’s going to be a tough fight because independent leaders will cut into the vote shares of union leaders. It’s because the students have lost confidence in the unions due to caste-based polarization and several allegations on tickets.”

There are 22677 voters for APEX body and 314 voters for Student Research representative.

  1. Maharani College, 6374 voters
  2. Maharaja College, 2650 voters
  3. Commerce College, 4265 voters
  4. Rajasthan College, 3586 voters
  5. Law College, 184 voters
  6. Evening Law College, 328 voters

Five Year Law College, 392 voters
