Jaipur: The student union election 2018 will be held at JNVU (Jai Narayan Vyas University) in Jodhpur on September 10. The dates were announced on Monday.

The student union elections in Jodhpur division are being held in the second phase on September 10 due to the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra to be taken out by chief minister Vasundhara Raje in the region.

Higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari had already said that the JNVU student union elections will be delayed due to Raje’s tour. Elections are taking place at all other universities in the state on August 31.

The leaders and their supporters have started doing publicity in the premises. Students are putting posters and banners of their appointed candidates around the university.

The decision to conduct elections in the minimum possible time has been taken to reduce the chances of ruckus created by students during elections and to ensure that classes are not affected.

The voting will take place from morning till noon on September 10. As per the norms, students who don’t have ID cards won’t be able to cast votes.

At present in JNVU, the student union is led by Kanta Gwala who is the president. Among others are Hukma Ram Meghwal (Vice – President) Ashok Bhati (General Secretary) Dinesh Vishnoi (Joint Secretary) Bhajan Lal Meghwal(Research Representative)

Student union elections will be closely watched by political experts as they are taking place ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan. Union candidates and their supporters will leave no stone unturned to win the elections.
