Jaipur: Thousands of people who applied for driving licenses in the last month of 2016 are confused to get notices from Jaipur Regional Transport Office (RTO) these days.

These notices are asking them to pay their driving license dues. The confusion was created due to a negligence of the transport department officials.

Nearly 5000 individuals have received these notices over the past few days. The transport department had increased driving license fee on December 29 in 2016. But the department officials did not update the software for 14 days even after the increase came into effect. The software with the changed price was updated on January 11 in 2017.

When issuing licenses during these 14 days, people were asked to pay the old driving license fee. A recent audit of financial accounts brought to fore this negligence following which notices are being sent to people who applied for driving license in Jaipur from December 19, 2016 to January 11, 2017. RTO is now asking people to pay the difference between the old driving license fee and the new one.
