FIR registered against husband Gurpreet Walia in Binny Sharma suicide case

Jaipur: Three days after IRS officer Binny Sharma committed suicide, her father registered a case of abatement of suicide against her husband Gurpreet Walia who is posted as IAAS officer in Chandigarth.
Father Chandra Mohan Sharma said that the family had been waiting for Walia to arrive in Jaipur, but when he didn’t show up, they decided to lodge a case against him with Bajaj Nagar police station. Meanwhile, the police have issued a look out notice against Walia amid reports that he has a USA visa and could left the country to evade arrest.
Chandra Mohan Sharma, a resident of Ajmer town, has reportedly gave the police CCTV footages showing Gurpreet Walia abusing his wife and two children. Walia and Binny Sharma got married in October, 2010. Her family members alleged that Binny’s mother-in-law started harassing her soon after the marriage. Her husband also started beating and abusing her, the father alleged.
A police team has been rushed to Chandigarh to find Walia whose mobile phone has been switched off since the day he was informed of his wife’s suicide.
Binny Sharma had committed suicide by hanging herself at her official residence in AG Colony late on Monday.
It has come up during investigation that Binny and Gurpreet both worked in Mumbai for nearly six years, but when their relationship turned sour, Binny got herself transferred to Jaipur.
