Jaipur: A Jaipur police team is camping in Chandigarh in connection with the alleged suicide by IRS officer Binny Sharma. The police are trying to find Binny’s husband Gurpreet Walia and his mother for interrogation, but they could not be traced. Both are missing. The cops had booked them for abetment of suicide after Binny in a suicide note accused them of harassment and ‘ruining her life’.
Gurpreet Walia is posted as an IAAS officer in Chandigarh. A Bajaj Nagar police team carried out searches at his government residence as well as his office, but couldn’t find him. His mother is also missing. Police officials said that the mother-son duo disappeared before the police team arrived in Chandigarh. Their phones are also switched off.
The police have recorded the statement of Binny’s father Chandra Mohan Sharma, a resident of Ajmer, her mother and brother. They have launched an investigation on the basis of the statements and some evidence provided by the family members.
When Binny’s father lodged an FIR with Bajaj Nagar police station two days ago, he reportedly provided the police with CCTV footages showing Gurpreeet Walia abusing his wife.
