Alwar: Court convicts Falahari Baba in rape case, sentenced to life imprisonment

Statements of 30 prosecution witnesses and defendants were presented in the court related to the case. Apart from this, 78 documents and 22 articles were presented before the court.

Jaipur: A local court in Alwar convicted self-proclaimed godman Falahari Baba in the connection with the rape and sexual abuse registered against him. Additional district and session judge Rajendra Sharma delivered the judgement on Wednesday. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.

Statements of 30 prosecution witnesses and defendants were presented in the court related to the case. Apart from this, 78 documents and 22 articles were presented before the court.

Falahari Baba was convicted under sections 506A and 376(2) of IPC.

The court heard the arguments from both the sides and reserved the judgement for Wednesday. A huge crowd of people gathered outside the court before the judgement was pronounced. The self-proclaimed godman has been convicted under both IPC sections lodged against him.

A girl from Chhattisgarh lodged a complaint with Bilaspur Women Police Station accusing Falahari Baba for sexual abuse. The accused was arrested on September 23 in 2017.

The accused Kaushalendra Prapnacharya aka Falahari Maharaj produced in front of the court on September 20 in 2017.The court ordered Farahari Baba to be sent to judicial custody. Falahari Baba has been lodged in the jail since the arrest.
