ACB arrests assistant treasurer of pension department in Jaipur for taking Rs 10,000 bribe

Amit Pareek asked for the bribe of Rs 25000 from an elderly man at the pension department in lieu of the latter’s pension related work. Pareek had already taken Rs 5000 from the aged man and was caught red handled by accepting the rest of the amount on Wednesday.

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested an assistant treasurer of pension department identified as Amit Kumar Pareek after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Jaipur on Wednesday.

Pareek asked for the bribe of Rs 25000 from an elderly man at the pension department in lieu of approving arrears of seventh pay commission, housing building no dues and some other benefits, according to ADG ACB Saurabh Srivastava.

According to the ACB officials, a complaint was received against the assistant treasurer. The complainant had retired from service in November, 2016, according to a press release issued by the ACB.

As per the complaint, Pareek demanded the bribe from the man for approving selected pay scales, arrears, and others.

After the ACB verified the complaint, a trap was laid. Amit Kumar allegedly took Rs 5000 at the time of verification.

The accused has been arrested and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The officials will soon present him in the court.

Further investigation is on.

The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) teams laid a total of 62 traps in 70 days since the state assembly elections.

The teams arrested around 85 officials and employees on corruption charges after they were caught accepting bribe ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 75 lakh. ACB investigated four major corruption cases in three months.

According to the ACB officials, the team is making every possible effort to trap corrupt officials. They added that the ACB is taking action on every complaint.
