ACB trap: Middleman arrested for taking bribe on behalf of police officers
Some policemen demanded the bribe from the ACB complainant for not including his name in the FIR in connection with the seizure of illegal liquor.

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Sunday arrested a middleman after he was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on behalf of some police officers posted at Chomu police station. The trap was carried out in Sikar.
The man, identified as Mahipal Singh Jakhar, was acting as a middleman, DG ACB BL Soni said. He added that a man registered a complaint regarding some police officers demanding a bribe from him.
“The Chomu police station had seized illegal liquor. Some policemen demanded the bribe from the ACB complainant for not including his name in the FIR in connection with the seizure of illegal liquor. They threatened that he would be implicated in the case if the bribe was not paid,” said Soni.
The complaint was verified. The middleman accepted Rs 1 lakh at the time of the verification. The agency’s Sikar branch then laid a trap headed by police inspect Suresh Chand.
“Mahipal was caught red-handed taking the bribe of Rs 1 lakh. He was arrested and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act,” said DG Soni.
The ACB is now interrogating the accused man to ascertain the identity of the police officers on whose behalf he was taking the bribe. The officials said that action would be taken against these police officers also. Further investigation is going on.
