ACB arrests assistant drug controller in Jhunjhunu for taking bribe

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption Bureau arrested assistant drug controller identified as Vijay Kumar Singhal on Wednesday after he was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant Kuldeep Singh in Jhunjhunu.

The accused Vijay Kumar Singhal (52), is a resident of Mohan Nagar in Hindaun city of Karauli district. He is posted as an assistant drug controller at Jhunjhunu.

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of ACB DSP Kamal Prasad. He said that the agency received a complaint against the Assistant Drug Controller from complainant Kuldeep, who is a local businessman.

The ACB officials caught Vijay Kumar red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from the complainant Kuldeep Singh on Wednesday. Vijay Kumar took the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 earlier at the time of verification.

Kuldeep wanted the drug license for his medical shop. Assistant drug controller Vijay asked him for a bribe of Rs 30,000 for issuing the license. Vijay was arrested on Wednesday taking Rs 20,000 from Kuldeep.

Kuldeep approached the ACB following which a complaint was registered against Vijay Kumar Singhal. After the ACB verified the complaint and found it to be genuine, a trap was laid.

The ACB have booked Vijay Kumar under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and will produce him in a court.

In another ACB trap reported on Wednesday, two engineers identified as junior engineer (JEn) Shachichandra Sharma and (AEn) assistant engineer Ramesh Chordia were arrested by ACB while taking the bribe amount of Rs 34,000 at Rajsamand.

The identity of the complainant has not been released due to safety issues.

The accused engineers asked the bribe for passing a bill for school construction and development from the victim following which a tap was laid against the engineers.
