JNVU election 2018: Polling underway at 41 booths amid heavy police security

A total of 164 student leaders are fighting for 34 posts in these colleges and the university. Around 16,000 voters are expected to cast their votes in JNVU. Of them, 6000 are the new voters.

Jaipur: The polling for student union election 2018 at Jai Narayan Vyas University (JNVU) in Jodhpur began at 8 am on Monday. The voting will continue till 1 pm. Around 22,413 students will cast their votes at 41 polling booths set up at different constituent colleges of the university.

A total of 164 student leaders are fighting for 34 posts in these colleges and the university.

Around 16,000 voters are expected to cast their votes in JNVU. Of them, 6000 are the new voters.

Sporadic incidents of clashes between groups of students have been reported. At KN College, the police had to use mild force to disperse supporters of two student leaders after they clashed with each-other.

Mool Singh Rathore of ABVP, Sunil Choudhary of NSUI, Dama Ram of SFI and Arvind Rajpurohit of AISF are contesting JNVU elections 2018 for the president’s post at JNVU.

Heavy police force has been deployed at all the polling booths. The university administration has installed CCTV cameras and barcode scanners on the main gates of the premises to keep a check on the identity of the voters. No student without identity cards is being allowed to enter the booth to cast the vote.

The results for the student union election 2018 will be declared on September 11 for all the universities in Rajasthan.

Following candidates are contesting JNVU student union elections 2018:

  • For President’s post: Arvind Singh Raj Purohit, Damaram, Mool Singh Rathore and Sunil Choudhary.
  • For Senior vice Presidents’ post: Aashish Sharma, Dinesh Panchariya, Chetan Kumar, Kirti Ladha, Naved Baksh, Praveen Kumar and Pooran Pal Singh.
  • For General Secretary Post: Bablu Solanki, Kavita Chauhan, Mukesh Rajpurohit and Somesh Solanki.
  • For Joint Secretary Post: Mamta Kandara, Manish Bishnoi and Vikas
