Even a week after two FIRs in this regard were registered with Mahesh Nagar and Gandhi Nagar police stations, there has been no headway in the probe.
The police commissioner on Wednesday formed the team under the supervision of Add commissioner Santosh Chalke. “The team consists of police officials from three police station including Mahesh Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Cyber Crime police station,” said a police officer.
The police also recorded statements of five more RU professors who received the threat calls from unknown people.
Education minister for state Bhanwar Singh Bhati was apprised of the complaints when he went to the university campus to participate in an event. He asked the police officials to expedite the probe into the complaints.
According to reports, over 30 woman professors received these calls. The RU administration had to take down photographs and contact details of all the women professors from the university’s website to protect their privacy.
The victims are receiving calls from unknown people who engaged in obscene talks and then issued a threat that they would be raped within two hours. One of the FIRs was registered on July 3 in which the professor stated that when she tried to oppose and asked the caller not to contact her again, he threatened that she would be harassed by his gang of criminals.
