Jaipur:  Two women professors of Rajasthan University have registered FIRs with Mahesh Nagar and Gandhi Nagar police stations after they were threatened of rape by unknown people. The people, who are yet to be identified, made internet calls to these professors. According to reports, over 30 woman professors are receiving these calls. The RU administration had to take down photographs and contact details of all the women professors from the university’s website to protect their privacy.

The victims are receiving calls from unknown people who engage in obscene talks and then issue a threat that they would be raped within two hours. One of the FIRs was registered on July 3 in which the professor stated that when she tried to oppose and asked the caller not to contact her again, he threatened that she would be harassed by his gang of criminals.

The police have registered an FIR under various sections of IPC and IT Act and have launched an investigation. They are seeking help of cyber crime police station experts. A representative of teachers met DGP Bhupendra Singh requesting him to take immediate action in the matter.

The contact details of all the RU professors were available on the university website including their home address and mobile number. These details have now been taken down.

Police officials said that a probe has been launched into the complaints.
