Last day for enrolling your name in voters’ list today
People will be able to add or remove names and can submit objections or claims in the voters' list. The forthcoming assembly elections will be held as per the final publication of voters list on September 27
Jaipur: The Election Commission (EC) has announced September 7 to be the last date for people to get their names enrolled in the voters’ list for the upcoming assembly elections. Chief Election Officer, Anand Kumar, gave this information after a meeting with leaders of political parties on Thursday.
People will be able to add or remove names and can submit objections or claims in the voters’ list. The date for final publication of voters list is on September 27.
Representatives of all the political parties were asked to make more and more people aware of the last date of the enrollment of voters’ list during the discussion in the meeting, so that the names of eligible persons in the voters’ list can be added.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that amendments to nearly 2, 13,000 names and addresses have been received in the second revision of voter lists and around 32 thousand applications have been received for assembly constituency transfer.
Political parties should ensure genuineness of voters’ objections and claims and should help in registration only eligible persons in the voters’ list by encouraging people to do the same, added CEO.
