Jaipur RTO: Driving license applications to be accepted online only

Jaipur: Regional transport office (RTO) Jaipur will accept applications for driving licenses online only from May 22. If you are applying for a driving license, you will have to fill up an application online. Other works such as renewal, duplicate license, permanent license and address change will also be done online.
Regional transport officer Kalpana Agarwal issued instructions in this regard to all district transport officers (DTOs) on Thursday.
She said that action would be taken against DTOs who accept driving license applications offline.
“From May 22, we won’t accept driving license application over the counter. An applicant will have to apply online on RTO website. It is similar to applying for a passport. It will streamline things,” said an RTO officer.
RTO officials said that paperwork takes most of the time when processing driving license applications.
“It will reduce the workload and help us process applications quickly,” said the officer.
He was hopeful that it would also curb to some extent the practice of using middlemen for getting driving licenses from RTO.
“People would be able to apply for license directly. They will have to show up for driving tests on stipulated dates, so they won’t have to run from pillar to post while trying to know the status of their application,” said the officer.
