Jaipur: ACB officer’s stolen car recovered, thieves still at large

The cops found it parked near an unoccupied plot in Jyoti Nagar area on Thursday. The police officials said that the thieves couldn’t drive the vehicle out of the city due to heavy checking in the city.

Jaipur: A day after the car of deputy director (revenue) Ummed Singh – a Rajasthan administrative service (RAS) officer – was stolen in Lalkothi area, the cops found it parked near an unoccupied plot in Jyoti Nagar area on Thursday. The police officials said that the thieves couldn’t drive the vehicle out of the city due to heavy checking in the city.

The car was found parked in Lakush Nagar First in Jyoti Nagar. After receiving information about the car, a police team was immediately rushed to the spot. The police have however not been able to identify the thieves.

The CCTV footages showed two thieves who had their faces covered with handkerchiefs stole the car from the parking of a hotel near Laxmi Mandi Cinema Hall in Lalkothi area on Wednesday.

Ummed Singh’s driver Vidhyadhar had reported the car stolen. was on his way to pick the officer from his house in Sun City in Jhotwara area. He stopped near Lalkoti vegetable market to buy vegetables. He had packed the vegetables in two bags. Since they were heavy, he walked the car carrying one of them and put it in the vehicle. He left to bring the second bag and when he came to parking carrying it, he found the car missing. He immediately informed the police control room and Ummed Singh.

The theft embarrassed the police as it was the second incident of a vehicle belonging to a senior officer being stolen in a span of 15 days. Unidentified thieves had stolen the car of an IPS officer from outside the chief secretary’s bungalow.
