Jaipur: ACB arrests head-constable for taking bribe of Rs 11,000

Jaipur: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a head constable of Paladi Meena police outpost under the jurisdiction of Kho Nagaurian police station in Jaipur after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 11,000. The head constable, Raman Singh, was demanding the bribe for not arresting a friend of the ACB complainant, officials said.

After receiving the complaint, ACB launched an investigation. “The brother of the ACB complainant had been arrested in connection with a bike theft case. Raman Singh was threatening to arrest the complainant’s friend also. To make the case weak, Raman Singh was demanding a bribe of Rs 40,000,” an ACB officer said.

The officer added that the complaint was verified. “Raman Singh accepted Rs 24,000 during the verification of the complaint. A trap was laid. Raman Singh was caught red-handed taking the bribe,” said the officer.

The officer added that Raman Singh was arrested and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.
