International students in Jaipur: CID-CB registers FIR against NIMS University for visa rule violations

Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s CID (crime branch) has registered an FIR against NIMS University situated on Delhi Road for visa rule violations. The university enrolled five Nigerian nationals who had come to India on work visas. These students didn’t have study visa and despite that the university allegedly enrolled these students and didn’t submit necessary documents to the CID on time, police officials said.

The FIR has been registered by DySP, CID (rural) Lokesh Mishra with Manak Chowk police station in the city.

As per the FIR, five Nigerian nationals came to India on a work visa in 2016-17.

“They didn’t have study visa. Despite knowing this, the NIMS University enrolled these students in BA honors (economics) course. The university also violated the norms related to filling up FRO forms for these students on time,” said a police officer.

The CID, CB had got documents related to illegal stay of Nigerian nationals in the university following which an investigation was launched.

Police recently busted several gangs consisting of Nigerian nationals involved in frauds and other types of crimes.

“After we confirmed that the stay of five Nigerian nationals is illegal, we registered an FIR. Further investigation is going on,” said a police officer.
