ACB trap: JMC Greater chief fire officer, Jagdish Phulwari, arrested for taking bribe

The driver of the CFO was caught red-handed accepting the bribe on behalf of Jagdish Phulwari, ACB officials said.

CFO Jagdish Phulwari arrested by ACB for taking bribe

JAIPUR: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Jagdish Prashad Phulwari, posted as chief fire officer (CFO) at Jaipur Municipal Corporation (Greater), and his driver for taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. The driver was caught red-handed accepting the bribe on behalf of CFO Jagdish Phulwari, ACB officials said.

According to DG, ACB BL Soni, the agency had received a complaint against CFO Jagdish.

“The ACB complainant stated that he had installed fire-fighting equipment and for this, he had applied for a non-objection certificate. To grant the NOC, CFO Jagdish Phulwari was demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh,” Soni said.

DG Soni added that a team was constituted under the supervision of add SP Bajrang Singh Shekhawat. The ACB team verified the complaint and when found it genuine, a trap was laid by a team headed by ACB inspector Raghuveer Sharan.

“The driver of CFO Jagdish was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. The driver accepted the bribe on behalf of the CFO,” Soni said. Both were arrested and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The CFO hails from the Beawar area in Ajmer. He had allegedly accepted the first instalment of Rs 50,000 from the ACB complainant during the verification of the complaint.

The ACB officials said that the ACB teams are carrying out raids at the residence, office and other places linked to the CFO. Further investigation is going on.
