50 JMC wards to be reserved for women after delimitation

 Jaipur: Of the 150 Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) wards, 50 will be reserved for women candidates. The department of local self government has issued an order giving a green signal to delimitation of JMC wards. Currently, 30 wards are reserved for women. The number of wards increased to 150 after delimitation.

Of the total 150 wards, 32 will be reserved for OBC candidates, 19 for SC and six for ST candidates. Of the 19 words for SC candidates, six will be reserved for women. Similarly of the six ST wards, two will be reserved for women. In the OBC category, 11 wards will be reserved for women.

Only the women candidates will be allowed to content in 31 wards out of the 91 wards where candidates from general category are allowed to contest.

The authorities will hold a lottery to decide reserved wards under each category in the presence representatives of all political parties and stakeholders.

The number of wards had been increased previously in 2014. After delimitation, the number of corporation wards has increased from 77 to 91.
