JMC Greater election: Rashmi Saini to be BJP mayor candidate
Rashmi’s name has been finalized after discussing the nomination of at least three other candidates including Dhabai.

JAIPUR: The BJP will field Rashmi Saini as the official candidate of the party for the upcoming Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), Greater election. The Congress will flied Hema Singhania. Friday was the last day for filing nominations for the post of mayor.
Both parties had finalized the names by Thursday night. Sheel Dhabai was expecting to be nominated by the BJP, but when Rashmi’s name was finalized, Dhabhai’s daughter reached the BJP office with some supporters and raised slogans in protest. She got into an argument with state BJP’s media in-charge and convener Pankaj Joshi.
The official announcement is yet to be made by the BJP, but sources said that Rashmi’s name has been finalized after discussing the nomination of at least three other candidates including Dhabai.
The names of Sheel Dhabai, Rashmi Saini, and Sukhpreet Bansal were frontrunners. Although there was an agreement on Sheel Dhabai, but on Friday morning the party decided to field Rashmi. However, the party has got the forms filled out by the four councillors Sukhpreet Bansal, Sheel Dhabai, Rashmi Saini and Bharti Lakhyani.
Saini is currently the chairman of a JMC Greater committee.
The Congress had two separate meetings till late Thursday evening. In this, everyone unanimously agreed on the name of Hema Singhania. The BJP currently 85 seats, while Congress 40. There are 12 independent seats. In the elections of 150 wards of the Greater Municipal Corporation held in the year 2020, BJP won 88 wards, Congress in 49 and 13 independents. In the dispute with the commissioner, 4 councillors (three BJP, one independent) have been suspended. So now BJP has 85, Congress 49 and Independent 12.
