Jaipur: The vaccination drive is getting a great response from people in the age group of 18-45 years in Jaipur. The slots at vaccination centres are being booked within minutes after they are made available on the COWIN website.

The people in this age group are being vaccinated only after online registration. The beneficiary has to book a session on the COWIN app depending on the availability for a particular date. Most youths are finding the slots already booked throughout the day.

Sources said that in the first batch, about 22,000 doses have been earmarked for this age group. The vaccination drive got a lukewarm response on the first day when it opened for this age group on May 1, but now most centres are not able to keep with the demand. About 11,000 people have been vaccinated in three days. Currently, 10-13 centres are vaccinating people in this age group, but the administration is trying to increase the number of centres to at least 25 in the coming days.

On the first day, there were only 5 vaccination centres in Jaipur, 11 on the second day, and 13 on May 3.

“We were earlier vaccinating people in 45+ age group even without prior registration, but for the 18+ age group, the online registration and scheduling are mandatory. We are trying to increase the number of centres based on the demand. We are waiting for the first supply of doses,” said a medical and health department officer.
