Student who stabbed Techno NJR director had failed in 7 papers

Jaipur: Nineteen-year-old Bhavik Jain who allegedly stabbed Dr Rajshekhar Vyas of Techno India NJR Institute of Technology and then committed suicide by jumping into Lake Pichola in Udaipur was under depression due to the pressure of studies. He was a student of fourth semester and had failed in seven subjects over the past four years. It could be the reason behind his taking the drastic step.
Police have found during preliminary investigation Bhavik had got backs in seven subjects. The family members accused the college faculty of intentionally giving him poor marks and torturing him mentally.
Bhavik’s elder brother Divyank told media persons that he was a sincere student. He was staying in a rented accommodation in Sector – 4.
“When he came home nearly a month, he told us that he was depressed because the college faculty was biased towards him and threatened to give him poor marks ,” said the brother.
The family members and people from their community gathered at Hiran Magari police station in Udaipur and shouted slogans. They demanded action against the college.
The college administration however said that the best possible marks are given to student in sessional exams.
The incident took place at around 1.15 pm on Tuesday. Bhavik came to college in the morning and waited outside the director’s office for a long time. He found him alone. Armed with a knife, he barged in and stabbed the director.
Dr Vyas came out of his office bleeding profusely. When college faculty members and other student saw Bhavik running away from the spot, they tried to catch him. But he fled. Vyas suffered cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment.
The body of Bhavik was found floating in Pichola Lake at 4.30 pm. He was identified on the basis of Aadhaar Card found in his pocket.
