Soon, register FIR online in Rajasthan

To begin with, people will be able to file online FIR in only vehicle lifting cases. Later on, the online filing of FIR will be rolled out for other types of cases. Rajasthan is the second state after Uttar Pradesh in which the online FIR facility is being introduced.

Jaipur: People in Rajasthan will be able to register FIR online. They will no longer have to do rounds of the police station for lodging or reporting a crime and registering a case. The Rajasthan police are all set to start a service of registering FIR online (e-FIR) on the official website of Rajasthan police www.police.rajasthan.gov.in

To begin with, people will be able to file online FIR in only vehicle lifting cases. Later on, the online filing of FIR will be rolled out for other types of cases. Rajasthan is the second state after Uttar Pradesh in which the online FIR facility is being introduced.

According to a senior police official, the registering of FIR online will bring transparency in the police functioning and the proper records will be available online for the officials and people also. The system will be introduced for vehicle theft and lifting cases first.

The E-FIR will be like a regular FIR and lodged under relevant sections of IPC and CrPC.

State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) has made necessary updates on the official website of Rajasthan web portal and is currently testing the system online registration of FIRs.

The Rajasthan police department started an online service recently in which all the FIRs lodged at the police station expect POCSO Act, rape or crime related to women will be available online and people will be able to get a print out just after 24 hours of FIR being lodged with the police station.
