Jaipur: The Rajasthan election department is coming up with innovative ideas to make people aware of how important it is to vote in the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections 2018. A contest called ‘Selfie Le Le’ will be launched during the election polls in Rajasthan. People with best selfies taken after casting their votes will be felicitated on the National Voters Day on January 25.

People will have to click a selfie after casting their votes with the voting mark on their fingers. They will have to upload the picture on social media and tag election department.

The Rajasthan Election Department will also connect youth and women through various activities under the sveep program.

A special campaign will be launched in schools under sveep program from November 16 to November 25. The school children will have to take signature of their guardians on an affidavit to vote for the elections.

These initiatives are being taken by the department to increase the number of people to vote.

The administration is giving special focus to the disabled, old and backward class people of the state. Escort Services will be provided to make voting convenient for them.

According to the election department officials, the awareness regarding election polls and voting will be increased through the selfie contest this time.

The best 99 selfies will be selected in the state. And, the people who will upload these selfies will be felicitated at the Nationals voter’s day on January 25 in the state. From every district, three best selfies will be selected.

The voting for the assembly election in Rajasthan will take place on December 7. Votes will be counted on December 11.

Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) is a programme of multi interventions through different modes and media designed to educate citizens, electors and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral processes. SVEEP is designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.
