Jaipur: Several Rajput community organizations have warned of agitation if the state government cremated the body of Anandpal Singh who was killed in a police encounter four days ago. A police team tried to put up a notice warning the family members to take the body from the mortuary of a government hospital. The notice said that if the family members didn’t accept the body, the police will cremate it.

Family members and community leaders however remained adamant over their demand for CBI probe into the police encounter. They claimed that the encounter was fake and Ananpal was killed even when he was willing to surrender before the police.

Senior police officers were trying to persuade the community leaders to accept the body till the reports last came in.

Anandpal had been killed in a police encounter of Saturday night. Even four days after the postmortem examination, the family members have not accepted the body.

The demand for a CBI probe is being raised by various Rajput organizations including Sri Pratap Foundation, Rajput Sabha, and Sri Rajput Karani Sena.

The community leaders said that it was necessary to conduct a CBI probe to maintain social harmony.

A police team that had gone to Anandpal’s house in Sanwrad village in Nagaur district to post the notice had to face resistance from the family members and villagers. The team somehow managed to serve the notice by pasting it on the wall, but the villagers removed it immediately.

Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria said that they were ready for any kind of probe, but the family members should accept the body.
