Jaipur: The Rajasthan BJP will start a campaign to win tribal votes after the victory of NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu. Senior BJP leaders will tour tribal areas in the state to strengthen the ST vote bank by celebrating this victory among the local residents.

‘Adivasi Gaurav Pad Yatra’ will be taken out on July 24 and July 25 in tribal-dominated districts of Banswara and Dungarpur in Rajasthan.

Along with the office bearers of BJP ST Morcha, party state president Satish Poonia, BJP MP-MLA and district officials and leaders will participate in the victory procession. The BJP aims to strengthen the vote bank in the tribal region ahead of the assembly elections.

The BJP state unit celebrated Murmu’s victory by bursting firecrackers and raising slogans at the party headquarters in Jaipur on Thursday evening. Senior BJP leaders distributed sweets to celebrate the victory.

Poonia said that the election of a woman from the tribal society as the President in the world’s largest democracy is an honour. It is a matter of pride that a common woman from a remote tribal village of Orissa was elected the President.

Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod said that the entire country is celebrating. It is only possible in a democracy like India that a tribal woman went on to be elected President from being a school teacher and local councillor. Draupadi Murmu has seen poverty closely. She holds the office of President in the world’s largest democracy. This is the wonder of BJP and NDA.

Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje said, “for the first time in the history of the country, the tribal sister Draupadi Murmu has been elected to the post of President. The morale of the tribal brothers and sisters of the country will get a boost,”
