Pali woman accuses Daati Maharaj of sexual harassment, FIR lodged

A woman belonging to Pali district in Rajasthan has accused self-styled godman Daati Maharaj of sexual harassment. The woman registered a court complaint on Monday.

Jaipur: A woman belonging to Pali district in Rajasthan has accused self-styled godman Daati Maharaj of sexual harassment. The woman registered a court complaint on Monday. The court fixed the next hearing in the case for November 16. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is already investigating a rape case against him lodged by a girl on June 9.

The Pali court has directed the local police to file an FIR in the matter and initiate an investigation. The case will be lodged under various sections including 354a, 472,509,406 and 372 of IPC, pertaining to sexual harassment, an insult to the modesty of a woman, criminal breach of trust, forgery of valuable security and selling minors for purpose of prostitution.

According to Daati’s Advocate, the woman who is accusing Daati has never even met him. All the complaints against Daati are baseless and fabricated.

The Delhi police lodged an FIR against Daati Maharaj on June 11 for raping a girl at his ashram. The Delhi high court transferred the report to CBI on October 3 for investigating the case.

Daati Maharaj’s legal team approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the transfer of the case from the Delhi Police Crime Branch to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Meanwhile, the CBI booked the Godman on October 26 after the directions from the court in this regard. Further investigation is going on.
