MI road traders protest jaipur

Jaipur: MI Road traders association members and showroom owners continued to stage their protest against one-way traffic rule and free parking on Wednesday. The traders hung black balloons and flags outside their shops as a sign of protest on Monday and Tuesday.

Traders shouted slogans against the traffic administration and demanded their problem be resolved as soon as possible.

General secretary of market association Suresh Saini said that they have met DGP traffic several times, but no solution has been presented to them. About 400 shops are getting affected due to the traffic-related problems on MI road which stretches from Ajmeri Gate to Khasa Kothi.

The traders demanded a change in timing of one-way traffic. They said that vehicles should be charged a fee for parking, so that people don’t park their cars in front of their shops throughout the day. Moreover, the two-hour traffic management services should be implemented in the MI Road area. The system is already in place in the Walled City markets.

Shoppers have to take a long route due to which they have stopped coming to the market. Also, several people park their cars on the roadside in front of the shops due to which there is no parking for shoppers. Frequent traffic congestions have led to a loss of business, alleged association members.

According to DGP traffic Pooja Awana, changes in one-way traffic system at MI road is not possible as it will affect other markets in the Walled city. The process of resolving parking problems is going on.
