Jaipur: Mirza Ismail (MI) Road market will remain closed on Thursday in protest of increasing traffic congestions and the traffic police’s alleged negligence in resolving this problem. The decision was taken by the market association members in a meeting on Tuesday.

The market association members including shop owners and businessmen will stage a protest at Panchbatti Chauraha from 11 am on January 31 against the miserable traffic conditions and no traffic management by the traffic officials at MI road.

According to the general secretary of market association Sunil Jain, a meeting was held between the members of the association on Tuesday. The members decided to keep the market closed for a day in protest of traffic congestions on the road.

“The business is getting affected due to the traffic conditions on MI Road. We also had a word with DCP Traffic but in vain. No solution has been presented to us,” added Jain.

There is no traffic management by the police officials, alleged association members.

The businessmen demand that the two-hour traffic management services should be implemented in the MI Road area like that of Walled City markets.

The one-way traffic management has been implemented at Janpath, Vaniki path and Sehdev Marg near Statue circle of the city from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

According to the new traffic management rules in the city, the traffic will be diverted from Janpath to Tilak Nagar via Vaniki Path and vice versa from Wednesday.
