Kota: Another coaching student, a 17-year-old girl, commits suicide
Neeraj Kumari was a class 12 student at a private school and had been staying in Pragya Girls Hostel in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar for the past two years.
Jaipur: A 17-year-old girl, identified as Neeraj Choudhary – a native of Haryana who was coaching student in Kota was found hanging from the ceiling of her hostel room late on Friday. The girl was preparing for NEET, according to the police.
Neeraj was a class 12 student at a private school and had been staying in Pragya Girls Hostel in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar for the past two years. She was also taking coaching classes simultaneously to prepare for medical entrance examinations.
A sanitation worker employed by the hostel owner came in the morning, but found the room bolted from inside. Thinking that Neeraj was sleeping, she didn’t knock on the door.
On Friday evening, her hostel mates knocked on the door to invite her for dinner, but got no response. They then informed the hostel warden who peeked into the room through a ventilation window and found Neeraj hanging inside. The police were informed following which Jawahar Nagar circle inspector Neeraj Gupta visited the spot.
The body was put in the mortuary of a hospital for a postmortem examination.
“We have informed the family members. The postmortem examination will be conducted after they arrive in Kota,” said the officer.
According to hostel administration, Neeraj was to pay a visit to her family in Haryana on January 11.
“We didn’t recover any suicide note. We are investigation what caused the girl to take the extreme step,” said a police officer.
Police said that the girl committed suicide either late on Thursday or in the wee hours of Friday.
The death of another coaching student has shocked the student community in Kota. The body of 16-year-old Anurag Bhartiya, a NEET aspirant who belonged to Sitamani area in Bihar, was found floating in Chambal river near Bhanwar Kunj area of Kota, almost a week after he was reported missing.
