JAIPUR: With the Covid-19 cases increasing in China, the Jaipur International Airport authorities have started conducting RT-PCR tests for international passengers. The step has been taken in view of the directions issued by the union ministry of health due to the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in mainland China.
Airport spokesperson Abhishek Gaur told media persons that as per the directions of the ministry at least two percent of the total passengers landing in Jaipur via international flights are being tested for Covid-19 symptoms. Rapid RT-PCR tests are being conducted at the airport.
Additional counters and booths have been set up in the airport’s arrival hall for collecting samples. Passengers will leave the arrival lounge after providing samples. If the passenger is positive, his sample will be sent to the authorized laboratory for genome testing, and a copy of the report will go to the Integrated Surveillance Shared Program. No fee will be charged for the testing. Apart from this, the passenger should be fully vaccinated under the rules of his country.
The union ministry of health has sounded an alert following the surge in Covid-19 cases in China and some other countries. The Rajasthan government has also stepped up testing for Covid-19.
