Harveer Saharan Murder case: 1 arrested from Fatehpur

Jaipur: Hanumangarh police on Tuesday arrested the main culprit, Ramniwas Mehla for murdering corporator Harveer Saharan outside SDM office in Rawatsar two days ago. The accused was arrested from Fatehpur area of Sikar.

The police were bringing the accused to Hanumangarh for further interrogation till the reports last came in. Sources said that the police are trying to find out the motive behind the murder.

The family members had lodged a FIR in which they named Ramniwas Mehla as one of the accused. The suspect is a known criminal and has several police cases registered against him.

Police have come to know that Ramniwas Mehla and Harvir had developed animosity against each-other since Bharat Bandh as Harvir forced Mehla to close his shop. They had a fist-fight in full public view at that time.

Harveer also has three cases of murder registered against him.

The investigation was going under the supervision of Hanumangarh SP Anil Kayal. Heavy police force was deployed in the region after the incident.

Police has arrested the main culprit, Ramniwas Mehla. More suspects involved in the case will likely be arrested soon.

Earlier in the day, a meeting was called at the victim’s house. The meeting was attended by a large number of people from Jat community and politicians including MLA Hanuman Beniwal. They demanded a CBI probe into the daylight murder.

People expressed anguish over the murder and protested demanding justice for Harveer. Some unidentified men opened fire at Harveer Saharan in full public view on Monday. Harveer sustained six bullet injuries and rushed to a hospital in Hanumangarh in a critical condition. The victim died at a hospital while undergoing treatment.

The incident happened at SDM court premises in broad daylight around noon. Panic gripped the entire town.
