Dissidence in Rajasthan BJP: Minister resigns, MLA to join Congress!

While PHED minister Surendra Goyal regisned from the BJP and announced that he would fight the election as an independent candidate, Nagaur MLA Habibur Rahman resigned from the primary membership of the party.

Jaipur: Shortly after the Rajasthan BJP released its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections, many senior politicians who were denied tickets have become dissidents.

While PHED minister Surendra Goyal regisned from the BJP and announced that he would fight the election as an independent candidate, Nagaur MLA Habibur Rahman resigned from the primary membership of the party. Dissidence was seen among leaders and workers in many districts including Tonk, Ajmer, Pali, Kota, Sikar, Bhilwara and Jaipur.

Surendra Goyal held a meeting with his workers on Monday and announced that he would fight as an independent candidate. He said that he would file the nomination on November 17.

“I was denied ticket because it was not toeing the RSS line. I was deceived by the party. I have worked really hard for the party but in return I was deceived,” said Goyal.

There were reports that Habibur Rahman, MLA from Nagaur constituency, may join the Congress on Tuesday. He resigned from the party’s primary membership. He is believed to be in touch with some Congress leaders in Delhi. He may announce his decision to join Congress on Tuesday.

The BJP had released the first list of 131 candidates on Sunday night.

The Congress is likely to release its first list on Tuesday.
