Jaipur: People booked BS – III vehicles in Jaipur and paid booking amount, but as auto dealers ran out of stock, they are now running from pillar to post to get their money back. According to reports, dealers are pressurizing people to purchase BS 4 vehicles after failing to deliver BS 3 cars and bikes as promised.
The Supreme Court banned sale and registration of BS-3 (BS-III) compliant vehicles from April 1. Automobile dealers ran out of stock in Jaipur on Friday as people queued up at their showrooms to buy BS 3 two- and four-wheelers at a discounted price. Discounts up Rs 20,000 on bikes and Rs 80,000 on cars created frenzy among people.
Many people in Jaipur booked BS III vehicles and when they went to automobile showrooms to get the delivery, they were told that cars and bikes they booked were out of stock.
“I had paid Rs 10,000 in advance. Now they are saying that they can’t deliver the bike because they are out of stock. I said give me my money back, but they are asking me to buy BS 4 bike,,” said Ramesh Prajapat, a resident of Sanganer area.
As an estimate, nearly 2,000 people who booked BS – 3 vehicles are not getting the delivery from automobile dealers in Jaipur.
One Suresh Sharma, a resident of Muralipura, said that he booked a BS – 3 car by paying Rs 20,000 in advance. “The dealer promised that the car would be delivered in the next few days and told me not to worry because I would be able to get the car registered even after April 1. But now they are saying I should buy a BS 4. It’s fraud,” said Sharma.
