Jaipur: On the lines of Masala Chowk which has become a popular destination for food lovers in the city, the Rajasthan Housing Board is planning to open Jaipur Chaupatis at three places in the city. The board is identifying places in Mansarovar, Pratap Nagar and Dastkar Nagar. The decision to introduce these food destinations was taken in a meeting presided over by housing board commissioner Pawan Arora on Wednesday.

The housing board will also develop fountain squares in Arawali Marg and VT Road area.

“We want to develop hang-out places on the land currently owned by the housing board. This will increase footfall to the housing board areas,” said a senior officer.

Masala Chowk developed by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) at Ram Niwas Garden has become a popular hang-out place for the city residents as well as tourists. The people can taste the traditional street food of Jaipur at one place.

The officer added the people would enjoy musical and street performances at fountain squares and chaupatis.

In the meeting, it was decided to develop residential plots and commercial properties in various cities including Bikaner and Udaipur.
