Widow stripped, beaten, dragged by hair over suspected affair in Udaipur village

JAIPUR: A widow was severely assaulted and humiliated publically by a group of more than twelve women in the midst of a village in Udaipur. The group of women dragged the victim by the hair and even tore her clothes.
Bystanders present at the scene recorded videos instead of intervening. The victim’s five-year-old son witnessed the ordeal and broke into tears upon seeing his mother’s condition.
The incident occurred recently in a village falling under the jurisdiction of Bakaria police station in Udaipur and came to the notice of police after the videos of the incident went viral.
Udaipur SP Bhuvan Bhushan instructed the registration of a case after the video surfaced. Three people, including two women, were arrested on Saturday afternoon, while another person was taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the widow, whose husband passed away a year ago, has been residing in the village with her young son. The villagers suspected the woman of an affair with a young man from the same village. The wife of the young man discovered this and shared it with other women residents.
