Trucks rams into vehicles in Jaipur’s Virat Nagar; 1 killed, 20 injured

The mishap occured when the truck's breaks failed.

Jaipur: A truck became uncontrollable after its break failed and rammed into half a dozen vehicles, causing panic on NH 248A near Viratnagar bus stand in Jaipur district on Monday. One person was killed while 20 others were injured. The incident created a stampede like situation as nearly shopkeepers and people standing on the roadside ran for safety.

The trolla was on its way to Alwar From Jaipur. After passing through Virat Nagar bus stand, its break failed. As the driver failed to control the vehicle, its first rammed into a jeep and then a Maruti car. It didn’t stop there. It hit a passenger vehicle and a bike also. It stopped when it rammed into another truck coming from opposite direction.

A police team from Virat Nagar police station immediately rushed to the spot. A total of 21 people were injured. Four were taken to a hospital in Shahpura, while others were admitted in a community health center in Virat Nagar. One man, identified as Arvind Bukankar died while undergoing treatment. Some patients have been brought to SMS Hospital in Jaipur due to their critical condition. The truck driver escaped from the spot after the mishap. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against him.
