Udaipur: Two arrested for firing at hotel owner in Fatehpur

The victim, Nitin Jain – the owner of New Shimla Hotel and his employee Mahendra Gameti sustained bullet injuries in the firing incident that took place on Friday.

Jaipur: Udaipur police on Saturday arrested two men identified as Nitin alias Nikki Sharma and Shankarlal for opening fire at a hotel owner in Fatehpur in Udaipur.

The victim, Nitin Jain – the owner of New Shimla Hotel and his employee Mahendra Gameti sustained bullet injuries in the firing incident. They were taken to a nearby private hospital from where they were referred to a hospital in Udaipur due to their critical condition.

The two shooters were identified on the basis of CCTV footages. They were wearing masks, but the police found some evidence that led them to the duo who had escaped from the scene.

The incident had created panic in the area. Senior police officers rushed to the spot  when some employees of the hotel called up the police control room to report the shooting.

Nitin had sustained bullet injuries on his stomach, while a bullet pierced Mahendra’s shoulder in the indiscriminate firing.

When nearby residents and other hotel employees rushed to their rescue, the masked men brandished their guns and escaped from the spot.

One of the accused – Nitin Sharma- is a resident of Fatehnagar, while Shanklal belongs to Pari village in Bhopalsagar area of Chittogarh district. It has come up during preliminary investigation that the duo was trying to extort money from the hotel owner. They were also planning to attack a dealer.

Police officials said that a gun was recovered from their possession.

Further investigation is going on.
