Jaipur: Five people including a child were killed while two others were seriously injured when the car, they were travelling in, collided with a truck on Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway on Tuesday. Four of the victims died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries at a hospital. According to preliminary reports, the victims belonged to Baroda in Gujarat. Efforts were on to confirm their identity till the reports last came in.
The mishap occurred near Peepali Village in Parasad police station area around 9.30 am. The car bearing a Gujarat registration number rammed into the truck driving ahead of it. According to the police, the car was overspeeding. The driver of the car lost control of the vehicle resulting in the tragedy.
The car was completely damaged. The victims got stuck in the vehicle. The local residents and commuters rushed to their rescue and informed the police. Four died on the spot and three were seriously wounded. They were rushed to a local hospital in Parsad. While four victims were declared brought dead, the child died while undergoing treatment. The victims include three men, one woman and a child.
The tragic road accident caused traffic jam on Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway. The police towed away the vehicles in the mishap and cleared the road.
The police have launched an investigation as to what caused the mishap.
