Tragic bus accident in Pali: 7 killed, 20 injured

Jaipur: Seven people died, while 20 others were injured after a speeding bus crashed into another bus parked on the roadside in Pali district of Rajasthan on Wednesday morning. Police said that two drivers were trying to overtake each-other to get passengers at the next bus stop. One of the bus drivers lost control and rammed into the stationed bus.

The incident took place near Kainpura Crossing of Pali district. Four people died on the spot while the other three died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been put in the mortuary and the treatment of injured persons is going on. As per the doctors, many of injured persons are in critical condition.

According to the police, a speeding bus which was on its way to Ahmedabad from Jaipur tried to overtake another bus near Pali district. It went out of control and crashed into another bus which was parked on the roadside on Wednesday morning. A number of passengers were present on the spot to board the bus.

Locals informed police about the incident and the officials rushed to the spot along with rescue teams. Police pulled the bodies and injured victims out of the bus and rushed them to the nearby hospital.

A huge crowd of people gathered on the spot.

The seven deceased including a woman have been identified as Champa Devi (38), Chunni Lal Sattar (22), Arjun Singh (22), Poonam Singh (19), Pappu Ram (35), Girdhari Singh (35) and Rawal Singh (22)

Police officials have registered a case against the bus driver and the further investigation is going on.

The bodies will be handed over to the family members after a post mortem examination.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted,’ The road accident in #Pali in which many people have lost their lives is very unfortunate. My thoughts are with the bereaved families, may god give them strength to bear this loss. I pray for speedy recovery of injured’.
