JAIPUR: Shashtri Nagar police has arrested three of the four men who were accused of harassing and cheating businessman Manmohan Soni, allegedly causing him to commit suicide by shooting himself.
Those arrested include a retired police officer, identified as Ramesh Chandra Tiwari, his son Satyarth Tiwari and one Lokpal Pareek. One of the accused men who was named in the FIR lodged by the family members is still at large. The police are searching for him, a police officer said.
Soni’s family members refused to carry out the last rites and staged a protest outside the Shastri Nagar police station demanding the arrest of the accused men.
They alleged that the police inaction caused Soni to commit suicide. He had attempted suicide twice in the past and a complaint had been registered against Satyarth for cheating and harassment, but no action was taken by the cops
After the trio was arrested on Thursday, the family members agreed to carry out the last rites. The funeral will take place in the afternoon.
The family members alleged that the police officers who investigated the case in the past submitted a final report and closed the FIR. It emboldened the accused who continued harassing and threatening Soni.
Soni had used his licensed gun to shoot himself in the chest at his house located opposite Rajasthan Police Academy on Wednesday.
