Tourist footfall at Amer Fort in Jaipur increases

Jaipur: Tourist footfall at the world famous Amer Fort in Jaipur has increased with the onset of the tourist season. The number of domestic and international tourists saw a steep increase during the Diwali holidays. About 10,000 people visited the fort every day in the last week of October. On October 30, about 95,00 tourists including 1686 foreigners visited the fort.

Amer is the most popular tourist destination of the city. “The number of tourists visiting Amer Fort is usually a sign of how a particular tourist season is going. The tourist season has just begun and the way the international and domestic tourists are thronging Amer, it seems that the season this year will be really great,” said a tourist department officer.

The cultural programs being organized at Amer Fort are attracting tourists. Folk dance and puppet shows are some of the programs that were organized over the weekend.

Pankaj Dharendra, superintendent of Amer Fort said that about Rs 15 lakh revenue on average was generated daily from the tourist footfall at Amer during the weekend.

“About 7,000 tourists visited Amer on October 27, 9,000 on October 28, 8400 on October 29, 11000 on October 30 and 10500 on October 31,” said the officer.
