Jaipur: The special investigation team (SIT) formed to re-investigate the Pehlu Khan mob lynching case reached Behror and studied the case files and other documents on Wednesday. With this, the SIT has initiated a fresh probe into the matter that hogged headlines recently after a court acquitted all the accused men arrested by Alwar police for murdering Pehlu Khan.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had ordered the state police to form an SIT to investigate the case as the court acquitted the accused giving them the benefit of doubt. There were allegations of mishandling evidence. Gehlot had said that the case was investigated when the BJP was in power in the state. So it would be reinvestigated to find loopholes in the previous probe.

The SIT team headed by DIG Nitindeep reached Behror on Wednesday. Some representatives of Behror Sangarsh Samiti also met the team officials accusing the then police station officials of threatening and framing innocent people in the name of investigation.

Meanwhile deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot met the family members of Rattiram Jatav who recently committed suicide over the death of his son in a mob lynching incident. Pilot assured the family members of an unbiased probe. The family members and local villagers have been protesting accusing the police of shielding the suspects in the mob lynching case. Rattiram had allegedly committed suicide when he couldn’t get justice for his son Harish.
