Sirohi road accident: 5 killed as car rams into truck on NH – 27

Jaipur: In a tragic road accident, five people – who were on their way to Ramdevra from Ahamdebad – were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a stationed truck on National Highway – 27 in Sirohi district on Tuesday. The five victims were pilgrims. Three people died on the spot, while two others were killed while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to the police, the mishap occurred in the morning. Some of the victims were identified as Ganesh, Lali and Harilal. There were five passengers in the car, all belonging to Madhya Pradesh. “The car crashed into a truck stationed on the roadside. The collision was so intense that the front portion of the car was completely damaged and three of the five car passengers died on the spot,” said a police officer. A man standing near the accident spot was also injured.

A highway patrolling police team rushed to the post and brought the injured victims to a hospital in Abu Road area. The victims had stayed in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night and were on their way to visit Ramdevra temple in Jaisalmer district.

“According to preliminary investigation, the car lost balance as the driver had a nap. It caused the accident. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed condolences for the victims.
