Sirohi: EX-national hockey player, 3 others injured in road accident

Abhijit Singh Devada, former national hockey players, died in road accident when the car he was travelling in collided with a stationed truck on Delhi-Kandla highway near RIICO Area in Sirohi district. His three cousins were injured in the mishap.

Jaipur: Abhijit Singh Devada, former national hockey players, died in road accident when the car he was travelling in collided with a stationed truck on Delhi-Kandla highway near RIICO Area in Sirohi district. His three cousins were injured in the mishap.

Abhijit, a resident of Sirohi, was travelling in a car and on his way home along with his cousins when the mishap occurred.

The truck didn’t have any reflectors and the indicators were also off. The truck was stationed on the roadside. It was probably for this reason that the car driver couldn’t see the truck. The car rammed into it. The front part of the vehicle was completely damaged. The four men got stuck inside the vehicle.

After getting information from commuters, a police team rushed to the spot. The victim were taken to a hospital where doctors declared Abhijit brought dead.

Three others including Raviraj Singh, Harshvardhan Singh and Lokendra Singh were injured. They are still undergoing treatment.

Abhijit Singh has played hockey at national level twice and also participated in many interuniversity competitions. He was currently posted as a hockey trainer on contractual basis with the district sports training center.

The truck driver escaped from the spot after the mishap.
