Sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in Rajasthan; 9,488 people test positive

Jaipur: There has been a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in the state on Wednesday. The state reported 9,488 new cases in the past 24 hours. The virus claimed three lives also. Jaipur has become the epicentre of the virus spread as 3,659 cases were reported in the state capital.

The possibility that the Covid-19 might affect children in this wave is still a cause for concern. As many as 19 people tested positive for Covid-19 at a school in Bapugaon in Tonk Road area of Jaipur.

Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena visited JK Lone Hospital on Wednesday to take stock of the preparations for the third wave if the virus affects children. As many as 43 people working in chief minister office tested positive for Covid-19. The samples of 175 people were taken here. CM Gehlot, his wife and son Vaibhav Gehlot have also been infected.

More than 100 cases were reported in 14  districts of the state besides Jaipur district. Ajmer reported 287 cases, Alwar 755, Barmer 319, Bharatpur 364, Bhilwara 218, Bikaner 495, Chittorgarh 267, Churu 105, Hanumangarh 117, Jodhpur 591, Kota 406, Pali 166, Sawai Madhopur 134, Sikar 254, and Udaipur 423.

Banswara reported 36 cases, Baran 46, Bundi 26, Dausa 92, Dholpur 11, Dungarpur 86, Ganganagar 47, Jaisalmer 75, Jhalawar 76, Jhunjhunu 59, Nagaur 44, Pratapgarh 68, Rajsamand 95, Tonk 70 and Sirohi. Jalore and Karauli didn’t report any Covid-19 cases. Two people died of Covid-19 in Jaipur, one in Sikar.

In Jaipur, Pratap Nagar and Mansarovar are the most affected areas where more than 100 cases were. As many as 133 cases were reported in Mansarovar, while 132 cases in Pratap Nagar area.
