Jaipur: The Rajasthan government is all set to inaugurate Ring Road project by the end of September. This decision was taken at a meeting presided over by the urban development and housing (UDH) minister, Shreechand Kripalani on Wednesday. The project will be inaugurated before the model code of conduct comes into force in the state.

Officials from various agencies including Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) attended the meeting of the Empowered Committee on Wednesday. The government officials discussed completing 28 km of road connecting Ajmer Road and Tonk Road by the last week of this month under Ring Road project. But, NHAI officials did not make any commitment regarding this deadline.

According to Ajay Vishnoi, Project Director of NHAI, the work of about 14 km of the proposed 47 km long Ring Road project has been completed. The team is trying to connect Ajmer Road and Tonk Road by this month. The deadline by which the work will be completed has yet not been finalized.

The construction work was widely affected due to the heavy rains over the past few days in the city. But the officials have increased the pace and the projects will be inaugurated before the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, said officials.

The state government has decided to compensate the Khandelwal Nagar colony. JDA will provide 50% developed land against the acquired plot size. JDA has taken possession of the land.
