Rickshaw puller arrested for creating bomb scare at Sanganeri Gate, Airport and Chandpole

The man had called up the police control room and said that bombs had been planted at these three places and they would go off soon. The city police and security agencies remained on their toes till late night.

Jaipur: The city police have arrested a rickshaw puller from Jagatpura area for allegedly creating a bomb scare at Sanganeri Gate Hanuman Temple, Chandpole and Jaipur airport. The man had called up the police control room and said that bombs had been planted at these three places and they would go off soon. The city police and security agencies remained on their toes till late night.

The phone was switched off after the hoax call. The police put the number under surveillance and took into custody a man who is said to be a rickshaw puller. Interrogation with him is going on. The police are trying to find out whether he made the call or someone used his phone to call up the police control room.

The call was made around 6.30 pm following which police teams, bomb disposal and dog squad and security agency officials rushed to the three spots and started a massive search for any suspicious objects.

The police was put on high alert because the oath ceremony for newly elected chief minister Ashok Gehlot and deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot will take place at Albert Hall on Monday.

The call was later declared a hoax. The police found the mobile phone switched off; however, the man was identified and taken into custody. He is being interrogated.
