Retired Rajasthan Roadways employee commits suicide at Civil Lines railway crossing

A large number of people gathered on the spot after the incident. Locals informed the police following which a team rushed to the spot and the body of the deceased was taken to a nearby mortuary.

Jaipur: A retired Rajasthan Roadways employee, identified as Virendranath Bhargav, committed suicide by jumping in front of the moving train on Tuesday. The incident happened on railway tracks near Civil Lines Railway Crossing in Jaipur around noon. Police officials reached the spot after getting the information.

A large number of people gathered on the spot after the incident. Locals informed the police following which a team rushed to the spot and the body of the deceased was taken to a nearby mortuary. Postmortem examination will be conducted.

According to the police, Virendranath Bhargav, committed suicide by jumping in front of the moving train. As per preliminary reports, he was a retired employee of Rajasthan Roadways. The reason for the suicide in not clear yet. Further investigation is going on.

“We are recording the statement of the family members to know what caused the man to take the extreme step. The body will be handed over to family members after a post-mortem examination. No suicide note was recovered,” said a police officer.

Rajasthan Roadways employees have been on a strike for the past several days. It led to speculations that the man could have committed suicide because he was depressed over not getting retirement benefits. His family members however told the media persons that it was not the case.
