You will soon be required to register the birth and death of your dog with the government.

The central government has mooted a new bill that aims at protecting pets from cruelty. A state board will also be constituted that will provide training to dogs on how they can protect their owners.

The government has come up with Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Dog breed and marketing rules),  2016. Under the new law, dog breeders and their companies will be registered so that the sale of dogs can be put into government records. It will help authorities ascertain how many dogs and of which breed a particular breeder has sold. The details like gender will also have to be submitted.
